The Kentucky University has made a research showing that the local smoking bans will not affect the income level of the charitable bingo halls. The reason for this study was the fact that school sports and band boosters receive support from the revenue of the Bingo halls.

To conduct the research 13 Kentucky counties were involved and the results were based on the data before and after the ordinances took effect.

Though the results did show a decline in the number of Bingo players, the reasons for it were several like gasoline price and the increase of unemployment.

The study was provoked by the Lexington officials' decision to redefine the private organizations to make the bingo halls fall under the smoke free ordinance of year 2003.
